Our Story
About Main Street Books
Main Street Books is located in an historic building in downtown Monticello, Kentucky, which was originally built in 1901. After a fire damaged the building in 2022, the property was purchased and the structure renovated into Main Street Books. We opened our doors on July 1, 2023, and we have enjoyed sharing this space with our customers and community ever since.
About Us
We're Rhett and Charity Ramsey, and we're the owners of Main Street Books. Our store began as a dream we've shared for many years. We have been involved in the business community of Monticello since moving back home in 2016. Rhett is a local attorney, and Charity works as a Registered Nurse in addition to managing the bookstore full time. We live in our hometown of Monticello with our son, Truett.
Our Vision
While owning a bookstore was a dream of ours, it was also our goal to be a part of the revitalization of Monticello. Many highly dedicated individuals have worked over the past several years to make Monticello and Wayne County a better place to live, work, and play. We've been fortunate to work alongside these people as our dreams, and the dreams of many of our friends and fellow residents, have come to fruition. We hope our store will play a part in the continued success of our community.
